"RESTORATION by Gudrun Gruber deals with the topic of sexual violence against women, as well as the psychological and social consequences of rape.
The courageous protagonist Sabrina provides insights into her life, and we accompany her and her family as they come to terms with the events. She herself wrote a text that occupies its own level in the film, in which she regains control of her own narrative.
The filmmaker has the courage to let her protagonist speak for herself and, together with her cameraman Bernd Effenberger, develops a clear and strong film language with minimal resources that brings us very close to the protagonist without taking up space."
